Why does my tractor starter motor turn backwards?
I have this 1963 Sears tractor. It received a new motor back in the early 1980′s. It has worked perfectly since then. Now about a week ago, I went to start it and nothing. I realized the starter was turning backwards. If I reverse the battery leads, everything stated fine. Could the solenoid be responsible for this? This seems like the only option based on my troubleshooting. But I’m having difficulty proving this. Any help would be much appreciated.

u can jump the solenoid and see.. i assume because of teh year its a fender mounted solenoid???jsut use jumper cable to jump across teh connections and see if tractor starts….
