removing the clear coat is a bad idea. its not only there to make your car shiny, its also meant to protect the paint. wet sanding is when you take a piece of very fine sand paper, get it wet, and sand the paint of your car. the purpose of this is to remove the outermost layer of clear coat to uncover a “fresh” layer. wet sanding does NOT remove ALL the clear coat! basically you just remove all the swirl marks and surface scratches.

you can remove the clear coat by wet sanding its the best way basically you use water and sandpaper to get the clear coat off the paint will look dull but you can reapply some clear coat they sell it at wal mart in a spray can it will look good enough but not great
