1) Can it back up… in a pinch perhaps, but when you want an airplane to power out, generally you put it in a place where it can go forward. Even airplanes that routinely “back up” (like the DC9) it’s a very undesireable thing to do, hazardous for the airplane and ground crew.
2) Can it land itself? Yes… as long as the pilots have pushed the right buttons.
3) The point of having a pilot is that they still manage the flight. Asking why they have pilots is like asking why they have a driver in the car if they have cruise control.

But human pilots are much more adept at doing “sensible” things, and they know that flying upside-down isn’t a good idea, so no matter what the situation, they’re not going to roll the aircraft inverted. That’s the value of having pilots.
