    If you are using this big of a cam in a factory set of heads that don’t flow, you will kill all performance gains- this is why:

    the unflowing factory heads want to create port velocity at a low CFM/engine RPM, but your cam does not make a good port signal/blowdown until much later, so when the cam comes into making the power, your head flow will be all done.and h.p. is limited greatly by the lack of maximum head flow.

    But there might be a chance of just a slight window of RPM when the cam starts to work ,and the heads are adequate at a lower RPM…….
    If your heads really are horrible, and you have that big of a cam in it, you might make 250 HP at a very narrow window of engine RPM- like a ford…maybe for a total of 1200 rpms- like 3,000-4,200. and nothing before and after.
    It will do nothing before the certain RPM-(no port signal/blowdown) (<2500) and it will start to decrease HP right after because it is weezing…(lack of head flow) not to mention that you are sacraficing torque to gain that potential head flow HP from the cam, so this won’t be a torquey motor with bad flowing heads either.
    On some SBC heads, the heads have a shroud to complete the chamber, and the intake valve, if bigger create less flow at higher valve lift because of the turbulance made with the shroud being too close to the valve. (around .320-.380 lift)
