Secondly, the donut, being smaller, has to spin faster because it has less surface area than your other three tires. (i.e. while your other three tires may be doing 45 MPH, the donut is doing 150 or so.) This will wear out the bearing on that wheel faster.

My advice: Go get your regular tire fixed. If you’re in the West (Washington, Oregon, Montana, Idaho, Utah, California, and Alaska), go to Les Schwab, they’ll patch your flat for free (if your sidewall isn’t blown. If it is, you’ll have to get another tire).
