Driving 40,000 Miles per year?

I have a 2010 F-150 Lariat 4X4 with a 5.4 Liter V-8. I am driving around 40,000 Miles per year and change the oil every 3,000 Miles because I do lots of idling and driving around construction sites. What other things should I do to the truck to keep it running good? My mileage isn’t good because we leave the truck running to have a cool place to take a break. And I often tow bobcats and small excavators. Just some suggestions would be good. Maybe if anyone owns a truck like mine could share how it is too.
