Bobcat skid steer. I have a 853 and Its got a new hydraulic pump and new drive motors, but little drive power
I had the local dealer come out and set the belt tension. It seems to be ok for a half hour or so, but then seems to lose some of its drive power. I checked the level in the chaincase and when I took out the plug, a couple of litres of oil poured out. It seemed kinda watery and looked like chocolate milk. Is there any way that rainwater could get in there. Ive already spent way too much money on this thing to take it back to the dealer, so any help would be very much appreciated. The drive motors were just re-surfaced at a local hydraulic shop, not complete new units. They told me they’re as good as new. The drive belt and tensioner are also new.

There is no easy fix for this.
The chain case needs to be flushed, but is not the cause of low power.
The hydrostaic pump, or motor is worn out.
As the oil heats up, it looses it’s viscosity and passes more easily through imperfections in the two.
You may be able to remedy this by adding an oil vicosity enhancer.
Your spool valves could also be worn, but I doubt it.
It’s probably just tired, or the oil is getting too hot.
Does the oil cooler fan work well, or is the cooler dirty??

Anytime I hear about “Resurfaced” pumps and motors…and being “Brand New”. I cringe. The motors will have a case drain line, that goes back to the tank. See if it is possbile and SAFE!!! to check the flow in this line at both HOT and COLD. Anything much over 2GPM at full pressure, is grounds for replacement. What you are describing is high leakage due to lower hot viscosity…or in other words a failing pump or motor. You have independent pumps to each side of the travel system or travel motor. I would venture a guess that one is worse than the other. You said a new pump and reworked drive motors. Were they done at EXACTLY the same time? This is a closed loop system. One component fails…example motor and the pump is damaged and vis versa.
Sorry for your trouble. Warning, Bobcat is now owned by the Koreans..you may be in for more trouble.
