Speed is steady betwen 60 to 75 mph. Wind speeds a steady 25 gusting to 30 mph.
Why does the top side of both bikes lean into the direction of the wind? Airfoil dynamics? I tried turning a shoulder into headwinds but the leaning at the wheels / bottom did not change. I lean into the wind, try the keep the speed up( but only not high speed as you must be able to stop safely in the distance you can see/ clear to do so) , as i found that dropping the speed makes the high wind push the bike more and makes you feel more unstable.
I found its a fine balance to lean into the wind to keep the bike online and to react quickly – to ‘straighten up ‘ once the wind has dropped- else youll be suddenly ‘ dropping/ drifting’ sharply.

you get tired battling the wind. I have frequently ridden in 40 and 50 mph cross winds. Keep your elbows pointed down, not out. sit up straight, and when a gust hits you, accelerate into it.

Wind riding can be exhausting, but, learn to try not and fight it, go with it, elbows down, pushing with your hands, don’t try and gorilla the bike.

Learning to countersteer against sidewinds will do more for ya than anything. If the wind is coming from your left, for instance, pull slightly back on the right bar and you can hold the machine steady. Be ready when you meet a semi or other large vehicle. That crosswind will suddenly cut off as you meet, then you will have an additional air blast from the turbulence behind the truck. When meeting large trucks in crosswinds, I move toward the right shoulder and as the truck passes, I lean the motorcycle to the left to take that air blast more head-on. Not much else you can do except puss out and stay home…K ;o)
