I had my car diagnosed after my check engine light began flashing. The car began shaking heavily (most heaviest when it was idol) there was a loss of power and burning smell coming from the engine. The mechanic that diagnosed it determined it was my ignition coil that caused one of my cylinders to misfire. (none of this make muxh sense to me by the way) He wants to charge me $ 300 to replace the coil, $ 170 to replace the spark plugs, and $ 140 for the wires… Is that too expensive? He said that if I dont get it fixed right away that it will cause problems for my catalytic converter. What is the max that I should pay to get this job done? And is there any part of this job I can do myself to cut back on the cost? Can someone explain also what the problem is with my car, what cause this to happen?
