My recommendation: if you can afford the Rubicon, go for it. You are certainly planning to go offroad, so the extras are not wasted money in your case.

If your type of offroading doesn’t include big rock and steep hills the JK would be perfect. Otherwise I’d consider a TJ Rubicon Unlimited for the 4.0.
