yes,you can its all in how you wire it up.just make sure the 2nd sub is the same as the 1st and look at the specs for the amp.most mono amps can run at 4 and 2 ohms and some at 1 ohm.if you want to know how to wire them up let me know the model # of the amp and subs and ican tell you how to wire them correctly

If the amp is 2ohm stable you’ll need 2 dual 2ohm subs. If the amp is 1ohm stable you’ll need dual 4ohm subs.

Actually mr gtr is wrong. It would be true if they were single voice coil subs, but you need the dual 2 ohm models because wired correctly you would get a 2 ohm load at the amp. Being as Alpine doesn’t make a 1 channel 1 ohm amp this is the only way to get the most from your subs.

The number of channels on an amp doesn’t limit it to the number of speakers you can have connected, but impedance (ohms) and the frequency being sent to specific speakers does.

You can put as many speakers on a channel as long as the impedance doesn’t fall fall below what the amp can handle or the sub(s) total power handling isn’t less than what the amp can push. Most systems will have higher powered amps for the subs than the other speakers.

An example, four subs and each sub is 100 watts RMS @ 4 ohm and the amp is 400 watts @ 4 ohm, you will have no problems with wiring all four subs to the amp like so http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j230/sparky3489/SERIES-PARALLEL.jpg as this results in a 4 ohm load.

There is no difference between the above and this setup http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j230/sparky3489/PARALLEL-SERIES.jpg except that each sub would be 200 watts RMS power handling.
