Use a bit that is made for steel, not wood. Use a slower speed and put a bit of cutting oil on while you are drilling. IF you don’t have cutting oil, any oil will do, even WD-40. The bigger the drill bit, use slower rpm’s. If the chips coming out of the hole are turning blue, you’re using too high rpm’s.
